7 Scriptures to Start Each Morning

Each morning I start the day with prayer and reading scripture. It paves the way for a smooth productive day.

One of my favorite morning scripture is Psalm 118:24. I love the second stanza, “We will rejoice and be glad in it.” It’s almost like a command – “you will rejoice today, no exceptions.”

Isaiah 50:4 is also a powerful morning scripture where it states, “Morning by morning he wakens me..” The Lord is responsible for waking us up every morning, something we must give thanks for every day.

And don’t forget Psalm 30:5: “Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning.” Each morning is a joyous morning, regardless of our circumstances. Take a look at it this way, in the night we cry out to God in prayer and in the morning, we rejoice.

To start your morning on a firm foundation, read one of these seven scriptures. Remember, it is important to read the Bible every day even if you start with just one verse. Every little counts.

Psalm 118:24 NKJV

This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.

Psalm 118:24

Isaiah 50:4 NLT

The Sovereign Lord has given me his words of wisdom, so that I know how to comfort the weary. Morning by morning he wakens me and opens my understanding to his will.

Isaiah 50:4

Psalm 59:16 NLT

But as for me, I will sing about your power. Each morning I will sing with joy about your unfailing love. For you have been my refuge, a place of safety when I am in distress.

Psalm 59.16

Psalm 5:3 NIV

In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.

Psalm 5:3

Psalm 143:8 NIV

Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you.
Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.

Psalm 143:8

Lamentations 3:22-24 NKJV

Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not.
They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.
“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I hope in Him!”

Lamentations 3:22-24

Psalm 30:5 NLT

For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime!
Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning.

However, I know You can use all the broken pieces to make a magnificent masterpiece. Help me not get stuck in a bad chapter due to disappointment or discouragement, but to keep moving forward, knowing there is more to be written. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.Where are you right now?
