When the World Is Loud, We Must Help Our Daughters Hear His Voice

In 2018, while researching Lies Girls Believe, I asked over 1,500 church-going girls ages seven to twelve a series of questions about their faith. Nancy and I had felt strongly that her best-selling book Lies Women Believe needed to be accessible for God’s “little women.”

One statistic gripped me—and still hasn’t let go.

Seventy percent of the girls questioned said they were not regularly in God’s Word.

I could almost feel the trajectory of their lives hanging in the balance.

The world is loud. And it defaults so often to lies that we end up believing. What do we do with lies about womanhood, marriage, gender, purpose, God’s Word, and friendship? Well, I think my mom did something that helped me.

When I was eight, my mom handed me a Bible and a devotional book and set an expectation: Christians read the Bible. Period. That simple, unwavering standard planted seeds in my heart. Hours spent in Scripture during my tween and teen years watered and fertilized those seeds until they grew deep roots.

I learned to know, love, and obey God’s Word. More than that, I learned to know, love, and obey the voice of my Shepherd.

“My sheep hear my voice, I know them, and they follow me.” (John 10:27)

Familiarity with His voice doesn’t come overnight. It takes time. Hours. Years of opening His Word and letting it shape us. The word “know” in this verse is ginosko in the original Greek. It is a word that speaks of intimacy and familiarity of a particular depth. Sometimes it was used to describe the act of marriage.

The invitation is clear. Jesus wants to Shepherd our hearts. And that requires intimacy which separates our love relationship with Him from others.

But here’s the sobering reality: today’s tween and teen girls spend, on average, nine hours a day on screens. They’re hearing the voices of the culture full of all its lies. The din of untruth overpowers the quiet, patient, gentle voice of our Shepherd.

Moms tell me again and again, “I feel like I’ve lost her to her phone.”

That’s a topic for another day. But let’s be honest—this generation of girls will never know a world without the raucous language of screens. For years, that realization has burdened me.

And then, at a gathering where Nancy was sharing her vision for Wonder of the Word—a multi-year initiative to get women around the globe reading the Bible—I felt something click. She spoke of translating the teaching into multiple languages. I turned to her and said, “We need to translate it into the language teen girls speak.”

    Digital.

Three years later, we’re on the brink of launching something that has the potential to change a generation.

    Why We’re Creating Wonder

At Revive Our Hearts, we are passionate about getting women of all ages into God’s Word every day. That’s why we’re preparing to launch Wonder—a daily Scripture experience designed to inspire teen girls and spark real-life community rooted in God’s Word.

Set to launch in 2026, this innovative app is designed for girls ages thirteen to seventeen. It meets them where they are—on their phones—delivering engaging, biblically rich content that speaks their language and leads them into a deeper relationship with Christ.

Wonder offers teen girls real hope through meeting Jesus Christ in His Word and invites them into a global sisterhood committed to learning and loving the Scriptures.

    What Makes Wonder Different?

Daily Videos: Relatable, bite-sized teaching rooted in Scripture, helping girls address issues like identity, friendships, and faith while guiding them to open their Bibles every day.

Protected Environment: No access to outside platforms is required. The full text of the Christian Standard Bible (CSB) and New Living Translation (NLT) will live inside the app, creating a safe, Scripture-saturated space.

Interactive Tools: In-app rewards and encouragement help build habits of daily Bible reading—rythyms designed to last a lifetime.

Vibrant Design: A modern, teen-friendly interface with warm, inviting visuals and multi-generational voices.

Global Vision: Initially launching in English, with plans to expand to Spanish, French, and beyond.

Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light on my path.” Wonder is being created to put that lamp into the hands of teen girls—so they can navigate life’s challenges with courage and clarity.

    Why It Matters

The battle for a girl’s heart starts younger than ever. Cultural lies about identity, sexuality, and purpose bombard her from every direction. Social media disciples her with curated images and distorted truths. Mental health struggles leave her feeling alone and unseen.

But the voice of her Shepherd still calls.

And that’s why we’re developing Wonder—to help her tune out the noise and learn to recognize His voice. To help her know it so well that when the world shouts, she can stand firm and say, “That’s not my Shepherd. I know His voice.”

How You Can Be a Part

We’re inviting moms, grandmothers, and mentors to help us pave the way. One way to start is by bringing your daughter or granddaughter to True Woman ’25 in Indianapolis. You’ll experience the main sessions together with speakers like Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth, Jackie Hill Perry, Kelly Needham, and me. And while you’re there, my friend Suzy Wiebel and I will be leading a special breakout session just for teen girls—giving them an exclusive early look at the Wonder app.

This generation doesn’t need more noise. They need the Word.

Will you join us in helping them hear His voice?
