We Turn our Heart to Behold for the Spirit’s Transformation to His Image

New JerusalemJesus Christ is “is the image of the invisible God” (Col. 1:15). On the cross He created the new man who now “is being renewed unto full knowledge according to the image of Him who created him” (Col. 3:10). When the new man is fully renewed, New Jerusalem will come forth.

“All things work together for good to those who love God”…those whom God “also predestinated to be conformed to the image of His Son” (Romans 8:28-29). The real conformation work is not caused by the outward events and situations but they help by reminding us, motivating us, to turn to the Lord.

Then the Spirit works within us. The “image of Him” is not merely an appearance like a photo; it is the reality of Christ in us becoming our living, being lived out through us. The Spirit’s work is presented in 2 Corinthians 3:18, “we all with unveiled face, beholding and reflecting like a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord Spirit.”

This transformation to His image results from our “beholding and reflecting the glory of the Lord.” The key is our cooperation in turning our heart to the Lord (2 Cor. 3:16). Then “the veil is taken away” and we behold His glory “with unveiled face.” Today this turning and beholding must be a daily, hourly exercise; in New Jerusalem it will be our full-time living.
