Not I, but Christ and His Spirit works - Raising Zion

His Spirit works

His Spirit works in all who rely on God alone.

Sinful conditioning pulls us back spiritually to rely on our own strength. Till we are in this body, we need to grow in the stature of Christ to overcome temptations. Keeping this body in subjection, daily training in spiritual warfare.

David was no match for Goliath physically. Though he had experience destroying large bears and lions while guarding sheep for his father. He immediately understood that this battle belonged to God (1 Samuel 17:47). Knowing God’s calling upon his life and favour over Israel, he stepped into the battle duly trusting God alone. He won a great victory!

and that this entire assembly may know that the Lord does not save with the sword or with the spear; for the battle is the Lord’s and He will hand you over to us.”

1 Samuel 17:47

We too have received a great victory through the resurrection of Jesus. We had no experience fighting this wicked enemy Satan. Jesus overcame the enemy so we can walk in Him to walk in victory.

Some new believers say, I’ve never taken this step in life, how can I do this? Jesus also hadn’t died and risen again before. It was His first time too. He is our example because He trusted in God’s word being fully man. He came to do the will of God, so should we.

Not my strength but His Spirit works mightily in and through us

Our desire to “DO” is a supernatural work, not our own. Without Jesus we can do nothing. Without Jesus we may gain the world, but will lose eternity.

The power of resurrection is the power of God’s love, of His immaculate Word. The power of healing and deliverance.

This anointing power raised Jesus from the dead. Heals sicknesses. Delivers from evil. Comforts the broken hearted. Saves the soul. God gave us this power through the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

The battle belongs to the Lord. Are we stepping out in faith? Knowing that God called us, and that we have His favour over us?

Submit to God. Give your self to Him. Do His will. The battle belongs to the Lord. Put on the armour and stand (Ephesians 6:10-20). Jesus is coming soon.

Praise God and Amen.

Do Christian Values Work in What We Call the "Real World"?

In his classic text, The Contemplative Pastor, Eugene Peterson wrote:As a pastor, I don’t like being viewed as nice but insignificant. I bristle when a high-energy executive leaves the place of worship with the comment, ‘This was wonderful, Pastor, but now we have to get back to the real world, don’t we?’ I had thought we were in the most-real world, the world revealed as God’s, a world believed to be invaded by God’s grace and turning on the pivot of Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection.
