How to Keep Trusting God When Circumstances Look Impossible
God Will Always Come Through for You
Are you facing something right now where, if God doesn’t come through, you don’t know what you’re going to do? The odds are against you and you see no human way out of your situation.
Maybe it’s a financial crisis, health issue, family problem, or a door that seems permanently closed. Either way, there appears to be no solution without God’s intervention.
I have good news for you: If you are a follower of Jesus Christ, God will come through for you.
God Might Not Answer in the Way You Expect
Here’s the caveat.
We usually define “God coming through” as God giving exactly what we’ve been praying for. But the truth is, He can answer in one of three ways: Yes, no, or wait.
That shouldn’t dishearten us.
We can trust God with our circumstances because He knows best. We want Him to answer our prayers as He wishes—not how we wish. Even if your prayers aren’t answered as you hoped for, you can trust in God.
We Should Desire God’s Will, Not Our Own
Remember in the Garden of Gethsemane, as the cross was getting closer, Jesus prayed to the Father: “And He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and prayed, saying, ‘Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.’” (Luke 22:41–42 NKJV). Notice that line: Not My will, but Yours, be done.
I know this is hard at times. Sometimes you don’t understand why God doesn’t give you what you ask for. You have to give up your timetable and adjust your expectations. Know this: He is faithful, and He has never failed His people.
And nothing is impossible for God.
Nothing Is Too Difficult for the Lord
The Bible is filled with stories of Him overcoming seemingly impossible situations. In Genesis, the Lord said to Abraham: “Is anything too hard for the Lord?” (Genesis 18:14 NLT)
God has shown His power to overcome the impossible again and again.
Three Examples From Scripture Where the Lord Overcame the Impossible
The Bible is filled with men and women who faced overwhelming odds—moments when only God could intervene. And He did.
Here are three examples from Scripture.
1. The Red Sea
Number one, the children of Israel at the Red Sea. Remember: The Lord had told Moses to deliver them from the bondage of Pharaoh, and they made the journey to the Red Sea—but now the Egyptian army was in hot pursuit.
The Egyptian army was behind them, and the Red Sea was in front of them. There was no escape. And they started to freak out.
Moses looked to the Lord and God instructed Moses to raise his staff—and the Red Sea parted.
God came through right when you would least expect it.
2. David and Goliath
Then there’s David and Goliath.
A shepherd boy facing a giant warrior—armored and towering over him. By every human standard, David had no chance.
But David said: “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts…” (1 Samuel 17:45 NKJV).
And you know what happened. One stone—and the giant fell.
Another impossible obstacle God overcame.
3. The Storm at the Sea of Galilee
One more—when the disciples were on the Sea of Galilee.
Jesus told them to get in the boat and go to the other side. But on the way, a violent storm hit. It was so intense they thought they were going to die.
Meanwhile, Jesus was asleep.
They woke Him up and said, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” (Mark 4:38 NKJV).
Jesus stood up, faced the storm, and said: “Peace, be still” (Mark 4:39 NKJV). And everything calmed.
What This Means for You Right Now
So let’s bring this back to you.
You’re facing a situation right now, and you don’t see the way forward.
Trust in God. He will see you through whatever you’re going through.
It may not look how you expected. He may not give you exactly what you’re asking for, and He may not move in the way you thought He would.
But no matter what, you can put your trust in Him. God has promised He will never leave you or forsake you.
