How To Be Wise In A World Spiralling Into Destruction? - Raising Zion

how to be wise

Who is a wise man according to Jesus? He is one who applies the word of God in His life daily. Jesus likens him to a wise man who builds his house on a rock.

What is this house? Us.

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

2 Corinthians 4:7

But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.

Hebrews 3:6

What is the rock? Jesus.

And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

1 Corinthians 10:4

Rains, floods, and winds will come at us in this journey of life. The only way to stand without being destroyed is by depending on Jesus alone.

How to be wise when floods and winds come against you?

– It rained fire and brimstone on Sodom and Gomorrah, but Lot and his daughters escaped. Lot was a righteous man. Despite the sin and wayward lifestyles in Sodom and Gomorrah, he stood firm in the word of God.

– Floods wiped out mankind except Noah and his family. Noah found grace in God’s sight. Noah too, was a righteous man. He withstood all the mockery that came against him, as he waited in the Lord.

– Looking at Jesus alone can protect us from every wind of doctrine that seeks to tear us away from our calling.

That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

Ephesians 4:14

A real challenge for our times as we await the coming of the Lord.

God made it simpler for man to escape a terrible darkness through Jesus. While the plan is simple and straightforward, the journey requires a striving. A striving which requires a diligent walk with God. An obedient surrender seeking only His will in our lives.

Maranatha, praise God and amen!

7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. 9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in … Continue reading "What kind of harvest?"

Do Christian Values Work in What We Call the "Real World"?

In his classic text, The Contemplative Pastor, Eugene Peterson wrote:As a pastor, I don’t like being viewed as nice but insignificant. I bristle when a high-energy executive leaves the place of worship with the comment, ‘This was wonderful, Pastor, but now we have to get back to the real world, don’t we?’ I had thought we were in the most-real world, the world revealed as God’s, a world believed to be invaded by God’s grace and turning on the pivot of Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection.
