Christ, the Image of God, in Us
God is fully able to accomplish whatever is needed to reach His goal of being expressed in a corporate man, culminating in New Jerusalem. He created man in His image and He imparts His life into man to bring forth His expression.
The God-Man Jesus Christ is “the image of the invisible God” (Col. 1:15). We receive Him into us by believing and now “we are children of God, and it has not yet been manifested what we will be. We know that if He is manifested, we will be like Him because we will see Him even as He is” (1 John 3:2-3). Here is the promise that “we will be like Him.”
The same promise is in 1 Corinthians 15:47, 49, “The first man [Adam] is out of the earth, earthy; the second man [Jesus Christ] is out of heaven….And even as we have borne the image of the earthy, we will also bear the image of the heavenly.”
Jesus Christ “is the image” and He wants to “make His home in your hearts” (Eph. 3:17). When He is fully at home in us He will be lived out through us to be the expression of the invisible God. This is the preparation of New Jerusalem to manifest God in man for eternity.
