We Will Be Glorified with the Lord
To end this age the Lord Jesus will come in glory and be seen by the all the earth. This is portrayed by His word in Matthew 24:27, “just as the lightning comes forth from the east and shines to the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be.”
This glory was first revealed to us in “the gospel of the glory of the blessed God” (1 Tim. 1:11). Footnote 1 in the Recovery Version of the Bible says:
The gospel of the glory of the blessed God is…the effulgence of the glory of the blessed God. By dispensing God’s life and nature in Christ into God’s chosen people, this gospel shines forth God’s glory, in which God is blessed among His people.*
Romans 8:17 informs us “if indeed we suffer with Him that we may also be glorified with Him.” There are two aspects of our involvement with this glory. One is that we are being brought into this glory. Hebrews 2:10 tells us that the Father is “leading many sons into glory.” Into glory can include into New Jerusalem, the city of glory.
Romans 8:18 speaks of “the coming glory to be revealed upon us.” This is the external aspect of our involvement. This is also in 1 Thessalonians 2:12 where Paul has exhorted them “So that you might walk in a manner worthy of God, who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.” Ultimately God’s kingdom and glory are expressed by New Jerusalem.
