Transformed to the Expression of God

New Jerusalem’s light is “like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, as clear as crystal” (Rev. 21:11). This jasper light is the expression of God on the throne (4:3).

Jasper is produced by the transforming work of the Lord the Spirit (2 Cor. 3:17-18). …None of us were created jasper. On the contrary, we were created clay (Gen. 2:7). However, we have been regenerated and are now in the process of being transformed. Eventually, we all will be jasper, possessing the life of God and bearing the appearance of God. We will have both the element of God and the appearance of God.*

New JerusalemWhen we were regenerated, we received the life of God. This was our new birth, our second birth, “born of the Spirit” (John 3:6). Now this life in us must grow unto maturity. Through growth this eternal life gradually replaces the expression of our natural life received from our first birth. This is our transformation.

First Peter presents regeneration (1:23) and growth (2:2). The fullness of this growth in us is the fullness of being built together into God’s expression with New Jerusalem.
