This Is How You See God at Work in Your Everyday Moments
Ugh. Learning English is no picnic!
Did you know English is considered one of the most difficult languages to learn? Trust me—it is.
At twelve years old, newly arrived in the United States, English sounded like nothing more than a blur of incomprehensible noise. Conversations rushed past me like fast-moving traffic, and I stood on the sidewalk wondering how anyone made sense of it all.
Take words like wear, were, and ware. They sound exactly the same, yet mean completely different things. The only way to understand them is by context. And what if you don’t understand the rest of the sentence? Yikes! Confusion piled upon confusion.
Yet in the middle of grammar rules, vocabulary drills, and awkward pauses, one lesson stuck with me like gum on the bottom of a shoe: action verbs.
And for that, I am grateful.
The God Who Is Always at Work
Years later, as I read God’s Word, those action verbs leap off the page and land straight in my heart, igniting a bonfire of joy. Perhaps it’s because they reveal something deeply comforting about our faith—God is not passive.
He is alive. He is active. He is moving mightily in our lives—even when we don’t recognize it.
Scripture doesn’t describe a distant God watching from afar. It introduces us to a God who acts, who responds, who moves toward His people. Just look at the vibrant verbs in this passage:
“The LORD is near to all who call on him,
to all who call on him in truth.
He fulfills the desires of those who fear him;
he hears their cry and saves them.
The LORD watches over all who love him…”
(Psalm 145:18–20)
Is. Hears. Fulfills. Saves. Watches.
Each word paints a living picture of a God who is fully engaged in every detail of our lives.
Responding to God’s Action with Faith
Those verbs don’t just describe who God is—in the midst of your hectic life, they shape how you respond to Him.
Because He is near, you can choose not to worry. Because He hears, you can trust Him with your prayers. Because He fulfills, you rest in His provision. Because He saves, you cling to hope. Because He watches, you ease into His reassuring arms.
Your response carries its own action verbs:
- I will trust.
- I will follow.
- I will ponder His ways.
- I will lean into His comfort.
Faith, after all, isn’t static—it’s lived out in motion.
Seeing God at Work in Your Everyday Moments
I pray you will begin to notice the active ways God is conducting your every moment. Perhaps He’s guiding you through a decision, comforting you in grief, or quietly strengthening you for what lies ahead.
Even when life feels confusing—when the “language” of your circumstances doesn’t make sense—God’s actions remain clear. He is still near. Still listening. Still working on your behalf.
Today, take a moment to notice God’s action in your life. As you read Scripture, underline the verbs. Let them remind you that your faith rests in a God who moves, responds, and never stands still. If this reflection encouraged you, consider sharing it with someone who needs reassurance that God is still at work.
Let’s Pray
Lord, thank You for being a God who is always at work. When life feels confusing and the words don’t make sense, help us trust Your actions. Open our eyes to see how You are near, how You hear us, how You save and watch over us each day. Teach us to respond with faith, trust, and peace as we rest in Your loving care. Amen.
