The Triune God, Our Unique Source

The Triune God—the Father as the source of life, the Son as the tree of life, and the Spirit as the flow of life—is the triune living of the New Jerusalem….We should take the Father as the unique source of all our life and work. The Lord Jesus set up a wonderful pattern to His disciples in His miraculous feeding of the five thousand, showing that He took the Father as the source of blessing for His life and work. He took the five loaves and two fish and “looking up to heaven, He blessed [them]” (Matt. 14:19). As the sent One in His humanity, He acknowledged that He was not the source of blessing.*

Other aspects of the Lord’s pattern is presented in these verses:
John 5:19, “Truly, truly, I say to you, The Son can do nothing from Himself except what He sees the Father doing, for whatever that One does, these things the Son also does in like manner.”
John 5:30, “I do not seek My own will but the will of Him who sent Me.”
John 7:18, “He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who seeks the glory of Him who sent Him, this One is true.”

We are those who eat the Lord Jesus as the Word of God to live because of Him (John 6:57) and work one with Him by living Him. Thus everything will come from Him, be accomplished with Him, and be unto His goal. This is Romans 11:36, “out from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.”

“The glory forever” surely points to New Jerusalem but this verse should also apply to all we are doing now for the growth and building of His Body and preparation of New Jerusalem.
