My tears have been my food
    day and night,
while people say to me all day long,
    “Where is your God?”

-Psalm 42:3, NIV

The pain will pass.

I know this is cold comfort in the middle of your pain. It is hard to think of a new world without your spouse and losing everything that you thought was secure.

But the pain will pass.

One day–I don’t know when for you–you will wake up and the whole nightmare won’t even cross your mind. It will be a sad footnote in your life’s story.

Keep going. Remember that this pain is temporary.

The pain may really, really hurt right now! That is normal and good for if it didn’t hurt, you never cared. This means what was taken mattered to you, and for healthy people, it should.

Go THROUGH the pain in grief. This is the only way to healing and wholeness. And one day, you will discover you have a new normal without such acute pain and then NO pain.

It is coming! Do not give up. The world is a better place with you in it.
