The Conclusion of the Bible
Genesis 1–2 records God’s creation and shows His purpose. In Genesis 3 sin and death came in to damage and delay, but not to prevent,
God reaching his goal.
All the negatives resulting from Genesis 3 are removed in Revelation 20. Thus Revelation 21–22 is a conclusion in a pure environment corresponding with Genesis 1–2.
Revelation 21 begins with the author John saying, “I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and the sea is no more. And I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.”
The unique goal of our Christian life and work should be the great goal of our Triune God—the New Jerusalem. The total conclusion of the entire sixty-six books of the Bible is the New Jerusalem. The ultimate consummation of all that God is and of all His work and achievements, from eternity past across the bridge of time and into eternity future, is the New Jerusalem. It is both illogical and unscriptural to surmise that the great goal of God, the total conclusion of the entire Bible, and the consummation of all that God is and of all His work and achievements is a physical city….New Jerusalem is a wonderful, mysterious corporate person*
in Genesis 2 God became available to man as the tree of life. From Genesis 3 man was cut off from this life until Jesus accomplished redemption. From then to the end of the Bible God flows life to man and by thi life brings forth and builds New Jerusalem.
