The Body of Christ Becomes New Jerusalem

All the believers in Jesus Christ are the members of His Body. This corporate composition is for this age and will continue and enlarge to become New Jerusalem. First Corinthians 12:12 tells us, “even as the [physical] body is one and has many members, yet all the members of the body, being many, are one body, so also is the Christ.”

The corporate Body of Christ is also presented in Romans 12:5, “we who are many are one Body in Christ, and individually members one of another” and in 1 Corinthians 12:27, “you are the Body of Christ, and members individually.”

She [the bride] is a living composition of all God’s redeemed and regenerated people. As the Body of Christ and consummately the New Jerusalem, she is the corporate Christ (1 Cor. 12:12)….Paul says in 2 Corinthians 11:2, “I am jealous over you with a jealousy of God; for I betrothed you to one husband to present you as a pure virgin to Christ.”…According to Paul’s view, he was not a mere pastor imparting biblical knowledge to his converts. His career was to betroth people to Christ.*

The oneness with Christ of all the members of the Body is the pattern and the development of the oneness of New Jerusalem with her Husband, the Lamb Jesus Christ.
