Spiritual Eating for Growth in Life to New Jerusalem

This is a summary of all the recent posts about our spiritual eating for the growth of the divine life in us, our practice of this eating, and pictures in the Old Testament. The goal of all our spiritual eating and growth is the glory of God in New Jerusalem. The title of each post is listed below with a link to it and a one sentence highlight of the contents.

Growth to Maturity for New Jerusalem: We were born of the flesh to be a human being; then we are born of the Spirit to be a regenerated human being; after birth the human life grows to maturity, and after our spiritual birth the eternal life in us wants to grow to its maturity.

Nutrition for Growth to New Jerusalem: For our spiritual growth, we need nutrition, beginning with milk; “As newborn babes, long for the guileless milk of the word in order that by it you may grow unto salvation” (1 Peter 2:2-3).

Spiritual Eating on our Path to New Jerusalem: The tree of life in the garden of Eden signifies God’s supply to us as nourishment for our growth in His life.

Spiritual Eating on our Path to New Jerusalem (2): The passover in Exodus 12 is another picture of spiritual eating, and 1 Corinthians 5:7 tells us definitely that Christ is the reality of our passover; “our Passover, Christ, also has been sacrificed.”

Spiritual Eating on our Path to New Jerusalem (3): The next shadow is the manna in Exodus 16; in John 6 the Lord Jesus clearly told us that He is the reality of manna,”the bread of God is He who comes down out of heaven.”

Spiritual Eating on our Path to New Jerusalem (4): The riches of the good land in Deuteronomy 8 are the supply for Israel to live there and portray the supply of Christ so that we may live Him.

Spiritual Eating on our Path to New Jerusalem (5): In Jeremiah 15:16 the prophet says to Jehovah, “Your words were found and I ate them, and Your word became to me the gladness and joy of my heart.”

Spiritual Eating on our Path to New Jerusalem (6): The word of God is our spiritual food; we come to the Bible and at the same time come to the Lord Jesus (John 5:39-40).

Spiritual Eating on our Path to New Jerusalem (7): In 1 Corinthians 3 nourishment is for growth and growth is for building of God’s house.

Spiritual Eating on our Path to New Jerusalem (8): Hebrews 5 speaks of both milk for infants and solid food for the full-grown, and 6:1 cries out, “let us be brought on to maturity.”

Spiritual Eating on our Path to New Jerusalem (9): The end of 1 Peter chapter 1 and beginning of chapter 2 bring forth our new birth, spiritual milk for our growth, and our status as living stones for God’s spiritual building.

Spiritual Eating in New Jerusalem: The tree of life is in New Jerusalem; with the view of John 6 and 7 we see that Jesus Christ is the real tree of life; He is our spiritual nourishment in New Jerusalem.

Practice Spiritual Eating: The Word of God is our spiritual bread (Matt. 4:4, the verse in the photo above) and we eat it by praying with it (Eph. 6:17-18).

Practice Spiritual Eating (2): “All Scripture is God-breathed” (2 Tim. 3:16); to take in God’s Word as our food we exercise our human spirit “praying at every time in pirit” (Eph. 6:18).
