Religious Spirits Hate the PERSON of Holy Spirit
There are Religious Spirits still alive and well in the Church that are doing everything possible to shut down our relationship with the Third Person of the Trinity. And for those who feel a longing in their spirit for deeper fellowship with the Lord, it is only through the Holy Spirit that relationship with Christ can happen. And this isn’t about seeking gifts or manifestations.
The Holy Spirit is a Person. Not an “it,” a manifestation, a gift giver, or a power source. He is fully God – equal with the Father and the Son. And the Holy Spirit longs for fellowship with us in the same measure. We have been instructed to walk by the Spirit (Gal 5:16), be led by the Spirit (Rom 8:14), and set our minds on things of the Spirit (Rom 8:5-6). We are not just called to believe in Him, but to walk with Him. And this is what religious spirits hate. They don’t want us to develop a relationship with the Person of Holy Spirit because in our pursuit of this fellowship, Holy Spirit will expose THEM.
In John 14, Jesus said He was sending the Holy Spirit as a “Helper,” but that doesn’t mean Lesser. Holy Spirit has a unique role that must be fully embraced if we are to know God as He truly is. Jesus made it clear that His departure was not the end of divine communication but the beginning of a deeper one. Thus, our walk with Holy Spirit must be ongoing, ever deepening in fellowship and intimacy.
“I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. When the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all the truth, for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak, and He will declare to you the things that are to come.” (John 16:12-13 ESV).
We have been encouraged to pursue spiritual gifts (1 Cor 14:1), but that is not the same as pursuing fellowship with the Holy Spirit (2 Cor 13:14). We are not to seek out the supernatural realm or spiritual experiences for those things are merely the evidence and fruits of the Spirit at work. This is actually where we fall into error if we begin to replace a relationship with Holy Spirit with a pursuit of the supernatural. In so doing, we are no better than a religious spirit that only seeks the works of God instead of relationship with God (Gal 2:16). And this is where the Church has missed it.
“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all” (2 Cor 13:14).
Holy Spirit LONGS for us to know Him. He is more than a Divine Interpreter. He’s the Wind at our backs, the Voice that speaks, the Director of our steps, and the Revealer of every truth. And His presence is more than a biblical concept; it is tangible, powerful, and life altering for those who recognize Him and surrender to His work. He exposes what is false, reveals what is true, and leads us to the Father. And this is why His enemies seek to silence His voice, disqualify His works, and discredit His presence. But Holy Spirit is not an accessory to the Christian life. He is the One who makes it possible.
Do not let the warring voices tell you it is unwise to follow His voice or trust His working. Do not allow the Pharisees of the day try and discourage your faith and question your pursuit. There is still more to be revealed – a fuller demonstration of Who Holy Spirit is and His purpose on the earth. The cleansing and correction in the Body of Christ is making room for the true and authentic Person of HOLY Spirit that will far outshine every other counterfeit spirit that has sought to contort that which is pure, holy, and super natural.
And how do we recognize the true Spirit of God as compared to “another spirit” (2 Cor 11:4)? He will not draw attention to Himself OR His works. His focus will not be on the outward workings of His presence, but on Jesus. All glory will go to the Father and to the Son. Holy Spirit seeks relationship with us so that we can know the heart of the Father and believe in the finished work of the Son. It is His joy and delight to take us to the Father and Son, and give us everything we need in bringing the Living Word to others. The Person of the Holy Spirit cannot be limited to His gifts, manifestations, or works. He is here to pour rivers of Life into all who seek Him so that we can KNOW the fullness of our God and make Him known.
The Holy Spirit is inviting you to deeper fellowship with Him. Any religious spirit trying to discredit His purpose can be easily displaced by ongoing fellowship with the Spirit of God. He is a Person to be known and He longs to reveal Himself through those who earnestly seek Him.
