Priceless

In a world where we are constantly inundated by so many posts and where there is so much going on, it can be difficult for us to process and understand our value in the midst of it all.

I have been a huge supporter of the Women’s Month and just trying my best to appreciate and celebrate the awesome women that surround me this month. And I believe this is also biblical. You might have heard the term ‘Prized above Rubies’.

"An excellent woman [one who is spiritual, capable, intelligent, and virtuous], who is he who can find her? Her value is more precious than jewels and her worth is far above rubies or pearls."
    Proverbs 31:10 (AMP)

Dealing with low self-esteem and low self-worth can be very destabilizing as a young adult trying to navigate in an already faulty world. There are internal struggles trying to make us find identity in the things we do, who we are or what we have or do not have.

    It is exhausting!

Our work accomplishments, academic prowess, marital status or financial status are all ways for people to easily categorize us. I watched a series of videos earlier this month that reminded me about celebrating unique identities and I would really love to highlight the fact that if we were ALL the same, the world would be a very boring and dreary place.

Rather, we must learn to appreciate each individual, to understand and strengthen our strengths and ensure your weaknesses do not become a disadvantage to you in the journey of life.

Nobody is perfect and we are all a work in progress. Yet, we are all truly, totally and completely loved by a perfect God.

Sometimes I will go through situations where I tell myself, ‘Morenike you know the theory of this but when it comes to applying the knowledge is like you suddenly have amnesia.’ But, we come against every form and spirit of condemnation.

The truth is that we need to constantly remind ourselves of these truths. That is why in the Old Testament it tells us to ‘mediate on this word day and night’ and Paul admonished the church to keep going over the teachings to safeguard themselves and their faith (Philippians 3:1).

He was aware of how fickle and wicked the heart of man is. When we say this, it can be a difficult pill to swallow. But the truth is that the nature of man is just that. It’s a fallen nature and we require the help of the Holy Spirit to be constantly renewed into the new image of Jesus (Colossians 3:16)

Yet, we all have our unique roles to play. I have my mission and assignment and you have yours. If we can encourage and support each other to get closer to our God given assignments then that’s great, but no one’s work is more important than another. We build a healthy self-esteem on the fact that we are all blood born from Jesus Christ.

    Fight Comparison

So anytime we want to feel less than or look down on ourselves because of what others have and that we do not have, let us remember that we are all made in God’s image. To despise a particular person is to despise the image of your creator God. Except you do not really love the God you claim to love. Yes, we have parts that are being pruned and refined by the Holy Spirit, but that’s where love covers a multitude of sins. It’s a story of grace, mercy and faith that we will all be transformed by the power of the Holy Ghost.

I hope dear brother and sister that we learn to love the nature of God that He chooses to uniquely highlight and spotlight through us. That we allow God do His complete work in our lives and that in all God will be glorified.

Wisdom is always profitable to direct. I would rather pursue and hold unto eternal things while in this earthly form. Not forgetting or diminishing the struggles of being in human form with the besetting sins like jealousy, envy, bitterness, unforgiveness, resentment, anger etc. We don’t tend to talk or shine light on these issues. But these are the things that limit and prevent us from moving fully into ALL God has planned for us. Or at least the fullness of it. It’s not worth it holding on to those feeling or thoughts. No matter how justified we may feel or think.

Remember we are living according to God’s glorious standard, and His standard is truly a higher calling.

So, as we proceed in this Lenten period and pressing unto full knowledge of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, if we want to truly experience the same resurrecting power that brought Jesus’ back to life. We must be persistent and adamant to understand the treasure we have in Christ and to do everything we can do to hold onto that treasure.

So, no matter what we encounter see yourself as priceless and also see your fellow Kingdom citizen as priceless in the eyes of a loving Father.

“We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.”

    2 Corinthians 4:7 (NLT)
