PRAYING FOR THE PRODIGALS: From darkness to LIGHT!

    Psalms 18:28

“You, Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light.”

Turn on the light, Lord! As my child walks through the darkness, may Your Spirit shine down upon them and show them the way to freedom. May they see Your love and goodness in the midst of their pain and may their hearts burn with a longing to walk in truth once again. Show them the way back to You!

    Psalms 139:7,11-12

“Where can I go from Your Spirit? Where can I flee from Your presence? If I say, ‘Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,’ even the darkness will not be dark to You; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to You.”

Thank You, Lord, for never leaving my child, even when they are in total darkness. May they realize they cannot outrun You or hide from Your presence. May they realize Your incredible love for them and Your determination to bring them out of captivity. I declare that Your light will shatter their darkness and they will surrender to Your never-failing love.

    Isaiah 42:16

“I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them.”

Thank You, Lord, for leading my child through the darkness and into the Light! Regardless of the paths they take, may they meet You at every turn. May they see Your hand of protection and care and Your desire to bring them onto level ground. Thank You for meeting them where no one else can!

    John 1:4-5

“In Him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

Shine Your light on my prodigal, Lord! I speak life to all that is dead within their soul and speak resurrection power! I call them out of the grave of sin and into the light of God’s glorious presence and power!  Thank You, Lord, for the power of Your Name to dispel the darkness and bring hope and promise. I declare life over their mortal bodies and freedom into their soul and spirit.

    Acts 26:18

“To open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.”

Father, as I lift my child before You, I ask You to open their eyes to the deception and lies of the enemy. I declare that they will recognize the path that leads to destruction and turn from their sin and rebellion. Remind them of Your promise to forgive and pardon. May they know they are loved and accepted by You, and return to the Light with a thankful heart.

    Romans 13:11-12

“And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.

God, awaken my prodigal to the realities of Your Kingdom that are here and now. Help them to  recognize the works of darkness trying to destroy them, and reveal to them tangible demonstrations of Your unconditional love and power. I speak to my prodigal’s spirit to “WAKE UP! Wake up from your slumber! Open your eyes to see the goodness of Your God!” Today is the day of salvation!  The allure of the darkness is nothing compared to the glory of God’s light!

    Ephesians 5:13-14

“But everything exposed by the light becomes visible – and everything that is illuminated becomes a light. This is why it is said: ‘Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.’”

Holy Spirit, awaken my child to the Truth and all that brings light. Bring the darkness of their life into the presence of Your Light. May they wake up with fresh revelation about Your mercy and endless Love that is calling them out of the darkness. May their heart be illuminated as never before with the Light of Your Love and Truth which, alone sets them free.

    Colossians 1:11-14

“Being strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy; giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”

I declare over my child that they would be strengthened with all power, according to Your glorious might, to endure the trials and overcome the darkness. Remind them of Your promise to deliver them and bring them into freedom from the bondage of their flesh. Reveal to them the amazing plan You have for their life and the transformation that You freely offer.

    1 Peter 2:9-10

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.”

I call my child Chosen! I silence any voice that would whisper in their ear that they are not wanted or valued. Lord, You have called my child Your special possession and invited them to be a member of Your royal court, a holy vessel unto You. I praise You because of this inheritance You have given us. My child belongs to You! Thank You for calling them out of the darkness and into Your glorious presence. May they know Your mercy and accept this invitation as Your chosen vessel of honor and delight.
