Partake of the Divine Nature, Walk on the Golden Street

Gold, signifying the divine nature, is the first element of the constitution of New Jerusalem. Second Peter 1:4 assures us “Through which He [God and Jesus our Lord, v. 2] has granted to us precious and exceedingly great promises that through these you might become partakers of the divine nature.”

The divine nature needs to become the basic element of our spiritual constitution. Revelation 21:21 says that the street of the holy city was pure gold. This signifies that we have to do everything according to the divine nature of God, taking the divine nature as our pathway. Our Christian life should be regulated by the divine nature as our unique street. To take the divine nature as our pathway is to walk by the Spirit, to live, move, and have our being according to the Spirit (Gal. 5:16, 25; Rom. 8:4).*

New JerusalemRevelation 21:21, “the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.” The New Jerusalem has only one street, only the divine nature as the path for our daily walk. (Don’t conceive New Jerusalem like a human city with myriads of streets.) Walk by the Spirit to remain on the unique street and to receive the “bountiful supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ” (Phil. 1:19) for this walking.

To walk on the golden street, to walk by the Spirit, is to walk under the ruling of God’s throne from which the Spirit flows in Revelation 22:1. This walk is our current experience of New Jerusalem life.
