God had given King Saul a clear command through the prophet Samuel. Saul obeyed most of it — but kept the best livestock, claiming he intended to sacrifice them to God. When Samuel confronted him, Saul pointed to his planned worship. Samuel's reply cut through it: "To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams" (1 Samuel 15:22).
Why worship couldn't cover disobedience
