Inflated Sense of Entitlement
An adulterous woman consumes a man,
then wipes her mouth and says, “What’s wrong with that?”-Proverbs 30:20, NLT
Only a cheater could confess to infidelity in one breath and in the other demand that you win their trust back in the other!
It is truly a moment in life that is stranger than fiction. Yet I am confident many have experienced this. Cheaters feel an inflated sense of entitlement to our efforts. They believe they ought to be worshipped.
Cheaters are not Jesus–at least, they are not the one who died for your sins even if they have the same name.
What is even worse than cheaters with inflated senses of entitlement are pastors or helpers who enable them! These are the people who point fingers at faithful spouses right after the cheater confesses to infidelity as opposed to holding the cheater accountable for their sins.
Cheaters, sadly, can count on people to stroke their egos and tell them how wonderful they are even after treating their spouse in abusive ways as they did by cheating and living a double-life.
This inflated sense of entitlement needs to go for their to be any hope for spiritual healing on the part of the cheater. They cannot repent if they do not see a problem, and they won’t see a problem as long as they feel entitled.
