In the Holy of Holies, in New Jerusalem, in the Triune God

Hebrews 10:19-22 exhorts us to enter the holy of holies. The basis for our entering is anything of ourselves; it is the person and work of the Lord Jesus.

Because our natural life and the surrounding world distract us, we often need to turn our heart to the Lord and again exercise to enter the holy of holies. But, in the new creation all the old and fallen things will be gone and we will be continually in the eternal holy of holies, the New Jerusalem.New Jerusalem

The entire city, being a cube, is the holy of holies. And because of the perfection of the new creation, the holy place and outer court are no longer needed. Thus the entire eternal temple is the New Jerusalem.

John wrote “I saw no temple in it [New Jerusalem], for the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb are its temple” (Rev. 21:22). The city and the Triune God cannot be separated. To be in New Jerusalem is to be in the holy of holies and it is to be in the Triune God.

This is the New Testament reality. We are in Christ (Rom. 6:11), one Body in Christ (Rom. 12:5), a new creation in Christ (2 Cor. 5:17), one new man in Christ (Eph. 2:15), we are growing into a holy temple in Him (Eph. 2:20-21), eventually we will be full-grown in Christ (Col. 1:28), and we have been called into God’s eternal glory in Christ (1 Peter 5:10).

All of these wonderful aspects of the Christian life, and many more, point to our being in New Jerusalem in Christ Jesus.

God Is Still Writing Your Story

We are all going to have good chapters and bad chapters. We’re going to have times when we think, I do not like this story and other times we think, I do like this story. The key is to not get stuck in life’s difficult chapters but keep moving to the flow of the Author’s pen. God is still writing your story.Father, some chapters of my story that are so difficult. However, I know You can use all the broken pieces to make a magnificent masterpiece. Help me not get stuck in a bad chapter due to disappointment or discouragement, but to keep moving forward, knowing there is more to be written. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.Where are you right now?
