Growth to Maturity for New Jerusalem

The Bible is a book of the divine, eternal life. In Genesis 2 is the tree of life showing God’s desire to give us His life in addition to our human life. At the end of the Bible is New Jerusalem with the tree of life and river of life to supply us eternally.

Between Genesis 2 and Revelation 21 is sin and death and many negatives resulting from them. But, when the Lord was crucified, “one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately there came out blood and water” (John 19:34). The blood announces the redemption achieved by Christ to cleanse us, to qualify us to receive the water, a sign of the God’s eternal life.New Jerusalem

When we receive the life we are born anew as explained by the Lord Jesus in John 3:3-8. We first are born of the flesh to be a human being; then we are born of the Spirit to be a regenerated human being. After our first birth the human life grows to maturity, and after our spiritual birth the eternal life in us wants to grow to reach maturity.

The growth of both lives needs a supply. In this need the human life is a picture of the divine life. The human life grow first with milk and then with milk and food. The divine life grows in the same way. The goal of the divine life in us is maturity for New Jerusalem; for this we need the divine milk and the divine food (more in the coming posts).
