God’s Valentine to You: A Love That Listens, Heals, and Never Withholds
At a recent gathering, I found myself seated beside a delightful woman whose story instantly drew everyone in. With quiet passion, she described her journey of healing after a devastating car accident—one that should have left permanent damage.
“The healing was miraculous,” she said.
Broken bones healed without casts. Deep cuts on her face left no scars. Doctors warned she would lose her teeth; they had turned gray and were deteriorating from the impact. Yet, before her very eyes, they turned white again—healthy and whole. Even the doctors were stunned.
We listened in awe.
But once the amazement fades, a quieter question often rises in our hearts: Why not me?
Why do some prayers seem to be answered instantly—while others linger unanswered for years?
It’s a question many faithful believers wrestle with.
I imagine even Joni Eareckson Tada may have wondered this at times—living decades paralyzed in a wheelchair, faithfully trusting God despite the absence of physical healing.
And yet, God’s greatest gift has never been the miracle alone. His gift is the invitation.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” (Philippians 4:6)
Prayer is God’s Valentine to us—a divine invitation to come close, to trust deeply, and to love Him beyond the outcome.
Five Ways to Receive God’s Gift While You’re Waiting
If we want to posture our hearts to receive what God is doing—whether the answer is immediate or delayed—Scripture invites us to consider these truths:
- Readjust Our Priorities
When we seek answers more passionately than we seek God Himself, it’s often His patience—not His provision—that begins to shape us.
“Seek first the kingdom of God…” (Matthew 6:33)
- Release Perfect Prayers
God is not moved by eloquence. He listens for authenticity. He looks at the heart, not the wording.
“The Lord looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7)
- Recognize Our Need for Guidance
Sometimes we don’t even know what to pray—or what we truly need. God welcomes our honesty and invites us to ask Him to search us.
“Search me, O God, and know my heart.” (Psalm 139:23)
- Remember God’s Timing
God’s delays are never denials. His perspective stretches beyond what we can see.
“A thousand years in Your sight are like a day…” (Psalm 90:4)
- Rest in What He’s Already Doing
While we wait, God is working—in our hearts, our character, and our circumstances. The answer is never an afterthought.
“For we are God’s workmanship…” (Ephesians 2:10)
Why This Matters
Because Scripture assures us: “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.” (1 John 5:14–15)
When we pray, we don’t pray into the void. We pray to a God who hears, prepares, and fulfills His promises—perfectly, lovingly, and on time.
While we wait, we choose joy over frustration. Confidence over fear. Peace over impatience.
A Prayer for the Waiting Heart
Lord,
Thank You for inviting me to come to You—just as I am.
When my prayers feel unanswered and my heart grows weary, remind me that You are still at work.
Teach me to trust Your timing, even when I don’t understand Your ways.
Shape my heart while I wait. Strengthen my faith.
Help me rest in the confidence that Your love never withholds what is truly good.
I receive Your gift today—not just the answer I want, but Your presence with me.
Amen.
How confident are you that God hears your prayers?
If this message encouraged your heart, consider sharing it with someone who’s waiting for an answer this Valentine’s season. And take a quiet moment today to reflect:
What might God be offering you—not just through the answer, but through the waiting itself?
God’s love is never silent. Sometimes, it’s simply teaching us how to listen.
