Forgiven People Can Forgive — Ephesians 4:32 | Good News for Today

Forgiveness can feel impossible when the wound is deep. Yet the grace we have received through Jesus gives us both the reason and the strength to extend kindness, compassion, and forgiveness to others.
Ephesians 4:32
Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. (ESV)
What a massive challenge for every single believer.
It is costly to forgive. And one of the things that will help us to forgive one another is knowing what it cost for God to forgive us when we were far from him.
Earlier in Ephesians we read that we were dead in our transgressions and sins. We were enemies of God when we were far from God.
That is when he has made us alive in Christ, having sent Jesus into the world to live for us, die for us, and to be raised again. It’s through the personal work of Jesus that we can be forgiven.
And so the more we meditate upon the forgiveness we’ve received by God in Christ, I think the more God will help us to forgive one another as he has forgiven us.
