Enter the Eternal Holy of Holies
Hebrews 10:11-18 are about the Lord offering Himself as the sacrifice for taking away sins. Then 10:19-22 says, “Having therefore, brothers, boldness for entering the Holy of Holies in the blood of Jesus, which entrance He initiated for us… and having a great Priest over the house of God, let us come forward to the Holy of Holies…”
The holy of holies in both the tabernacle and temple was a cube. Eternally the other parts of the tabernacle and temple are put away as no longer necessary and New Jerusalem, a cube, remains as the eternal holy of holies— “the length and the breadth and the height of it are equal” (Rev. 21:16).
To come forward to the holy of holies is to come to the Lord on the throne, “that we may receive mercy and find grace” (Heb. 4:16). This coming forward is spiritual; it requires turning our heart to the Lord and exercising our regenerated spirit to contact the Lord in prayer, praising, singing, thanksgiving, proclaiming Him to others, or calling on His name.
To come forward the Lord in this way is to come forward to the present reality of New Jerusalem. Our coming is to Him, not to a place. Our eternal dwelling in New Jerusalem is not merely being “there”; it is to be with Him all the time. We “will see His face” (Rev. 22:4) to “behold the beauty of the Lord” (Psalm 27:4).
