Enjoy the Triune God into Eternal Life

John 4:14 records the Lord Jesus telling us, “whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall by no means thirst forever; but the water that I will give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into eternal life.”

The flowing Triune God springs up “into eternal life.” Eternal life here refers to the New Jerusalem as the totality of the eternal life. The word into in Greek means “resulting in” or to “become.” First, this means that the destination of the flowing Triune God is the New Jerusalem. Second, this means that our drinking of the living water results in the New Jerusalem. Third, this means that by drinking the living water, we become the New Jerusalem, the totality of the eternal life.
In order to become the New Jerusalem, we need to daily enjoy the Triune God as the light of life, the tree of life, and the river of life.*

The light, tree, and river of life are the excellent conclusion of the Bible. They are in Revelation 22:5, 2, 1. Yet this conclusion is with us today having become to us and been announced to us by the Lord in John 8, “the light of life,” John 6, “the bread of life,” and John 4, “living water.”

In these three chapters the Lord Jesus told us to enjoy this triune supply by coming to Him, believing into Him, taking HIm as our redemption, eating Him as the words which are spirit and life, and drinking Him.

Isaiah 12:3, “draw water with rejoicing from the springs of salvation.” The more we rejoice (no complaining), the more we gain this living water, both now and in New Jerusalem.
