The Church, The Home And The Society

Text: Eph 3:14-15; 1 Tim 3:4-5, 15-16; 1 Cor 1:2

The first ministry of everyone, Christian or non-Christian is his or her family and home. To neglect your family at whatsoever expense is to reap sorrow and brokenness in old age. The church is the gathering of the redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ. The body of Christ (church) is expected to live a life of regenerated souls.

The family needs to cooperate with the church to move the body of Christ forward. 1Cor 11:22 “therefore, my brethren, you also have become dead to the law through the body of Christ that you may be married to another to Him who was raised from the dead that we should bear the fruit of God. Rom 7:4; Eph 5:24-27.

It is pathetic to hear men and woman claim to love God and serve the living Jesus when their home and their society is in disarray “for you brothers were called for freedom.

Only don’t use your freedom for gain to the flesh but through love be servants (keeping in mind that charity begins at home, among your own kit and kin to one another for the whole law is fulfilled in one word in this, you shall love your neighbours (spouse and children inclusive) as yourself. But if you bite and devour one another, be careful that you don’t consume one another, but i say walk by the spirit and you won’t fulfil the lust of the flesh. Gal 3:13-16.

QUESTION

1.       What is your responsibility towards your children & society

2.       How would you describe your family?

3.       Do you know that your family life can be much better than what it is today? What it is today?

4.       How can you love God when you do not love your spouse with whom you sleep and wake up together on daily basis

Prayer

1.       Dear heavenly father take control of my family/society in Jesus name

2.       Lord make of us, which will glorify your name in the name of Jesus

3.       Help me Lord Jesus to live up to my responsibilities in my home and my family in the name of Jesus

Do Christian Values Work in What We Call the "Real World"?

In his classic text, The Contemplative Pastor, Eugene Peterson wrote:As a pastor, I don’t like being viewed as nice but insignificant. I bristle when a high-energy executive leaves the place of worship with the comment, ‘This was wonderful, Pastor, but now we have to get back to the real world, don’t we?’ I had thought we were in the most-real world, the world revealed as God’s, a world believed to be invaded by God’s grace and turning on the pivot of Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection.
