There are spiritual fathers in the Bible and their blessings upon you can go a long way to determine how you complete your God-given tasks on the earth.
Relationship with spiritual mentors or spiritual fathers is scriptural. Though some people or Christians have not really taken this seriously. Bishop David Oyedepo, in the sermon shared in this post, as usual, teaches the blessedness of spiritual mentors in the Bible.

Blessings of spiritual fathers in the Bible: Read the sermon of Bishop David Oyedepo
I close with this, very important! We have a generation that is very insensitive to the place of blessings. “The blessings of thy father have prevailed” (Genesis 49:26). It is warfare. Blessings cause men and women to prevail where others travail.. Don’t toy with it. Genesis 49:22-26. Many have to return to connect with the Father’s blessings after this service so they can stop travailing where others are prevailing. The father’s blessing becomes a crown on your head, it monitors your journey supernaturally.
Secondly, every prophet sent your way is sent as a father. We had Elisha, the son of Shaphat, in 2 Kings 2:12 we saw him saying to Elijah “My Father! My Father! The chariots of Israel and the horsemen thereof.” There are prophets sent your way, they are sent as fathers.
The blessings proclaimed by our biological parents are powerful like we saw in Joseph. The blessings proclaimed by our spiritual parents are equally powerful. People need to recognize that His blessings maketh rich and add no sorrow. God called Abraham and brought Melchizedek his way to proclaim a blessing on him. Numbers 6:23-27. Abraham was called to be blessed yet Melchizedek had to come on the line to proclaim the blessing.
May you reposition today because people are struggling not knowing where the struggle is coming from. If you hear a proclaimed blessing grab it, believing every statement of it. One of those sent to me said one day, “Bring forth your hand, this hand will never know dryness.”
That was November 1987, this hand has never known dryness of any resources, foreign or Forex! But those things come through honour, genuine honour not fabricated or mechanical honour. Genuine honour! One day I had proclaimed on me: “From today, I impact you with the gift of on time. Before the needs arise the supplies will be waiting.” Isn’t that what built Canaanland? No natural supply but heaven’s supply. Isn’t that what built Covenant University? No natural supply but supernatural supplies. What opened 86 nations in one year at no cost to the Church? Not one dime from Canaanland.
Don’t ever toy with priestly blessings, prophetic blessings or parental blessings. Don’t run your life dry. One of those revered said to me “You will end up doing twenty times more than where I stop”. Those are blessings that come from the intestine, they just don’t drop on anybody.
The good news is you will not have to struggle for anything again. One of them will always say “You have not seen anything yet forever.” He has said it more times than I can count. One of them said to me “From today, my sword is your sword and my breastplate is your breastplate”.
There are blessings you can’t buy with money. One hundred years of labour cannot bring it to you. So reposition for blessings. If you hear blessings in Church don’t do like you are doing God a favour, you carry your bag and you are going. Going to where? Blessings that will change your life are being proclaimed. When people don’t have value for spiritual things they suffer a lot. “fresh oil Lord, fresh oil! Keep him ever fresh” I got that in 1987. It is still speaking. The oil is still fresh. Instead of going for one hundred days of fasting: “Fresh oil, fresh oil. I receive!”. Your days of struggles are over.
My old man before he went to heaven said to me, “The road is never blocked for a man that holds a cutlass. The road will never be blocked to you.” You might be asking “Do you cram them?” no! I receive them with my heart.. The things you don’t value and receive you forget. I may not know the date but I know the words. My prayer is that you won’t trash these treasures anymore. As proclaimed blessings come on you in church, you will grab it and receive it. As you receive it on a personal platform, you will grab it and take it in. It is all for your good.
