5 Qualities Of A Pastor Who Loves His Flock - Raising Zion

be a pastor

What are the five basic expectations from Pastors today? God appointed leaders need to exhibit certain essential qualities. What do we see openly happening to ministers off late? A clear indication that we are in the last days.

5 essential qualities of a pastor

Pastors or ministers need to live like exemplary servants of God.

The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed: Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being examples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away. Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

1 Peter 5:1-5

Responsible & responsive to necessary questions: Not all questions require answers, the Bible provides an answer to all. A leader needs to be accountable for what’s going on in the local church. Paul took responsibility for his actions (1 Thessalonians 3:7)

Unbiased and impartial: Peter was partial to Jews, till Paul corrected him (Galatians 2:11).

Flee from the love of money: Jesus gave the choice 2000+ years ago; either money or God (Matthew 6:24-34) (1 Timothy 6:8-11)

Lift up the name of Jesus, not desire fame: Some pastor for money, some for fame. Both are dishonest gains which affect the church.

Now is the time for believers to pray for their spiritual leaders. Give room for the power of anointing to bring a mighty revival. The revival is already here. We need to receive by faith and love on. May God prepare our hearts for His soon coming.

Maranatha, Praise God and Amen.

In his classic text, The Contemplative Pastor, Eugene Peterson wrote:As a pastor, I don’t like being viewed as nice but insignificant. I bristle when a high-energy executive leaves the place of worship with the comment, ‘This was wonderful, Pastor, but now we have to get back to the real world, don’t we?’ I had thought we were in the most-real world, the world revealed as God’s, a world believed to be invaded by God’s grace and turning on the pivot of Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection.
